Day 17 - Jerome & Prescott

This morning we rode over to the old copper mining town of Jerome, AZ.  After the mine closed, the town pretty much dried up.  Today, it's a bit of a hippie retreat with lots of little shops with vintage clothing, jewelry, pottery and "pot" luck items (pun intended).

After leaving Jerome, we drove over the mountain to Prescott which, at one time, was the capital of AZ.  It's a very charming city with a beautiful courthouse building on the town square right in the heart of the city.    A 3-day mountain bike race had just ended and lots of folks were gathered on the lush green lawn of the town square to watch the presentation of the winners.  The older homes in the tree-lined downtown area were a sight to behold, some with gingerbread but all were immaculately kept.

We walked around a bit then settled in a local corner cafe' for lunch.  After that, we returned to the RV park for some R and R and to watch the Phillies/Mets game.  Since Tom and Pat are leaving in the morning, we combined all our left-overs for a "pot" luck dinner (there's that word again).
