Destination Gold Canyon

It was just a few hours drive from Tucson to Gold Canyon on Friday and we are finally at our destination!  Seems like a long time coming so we didn't waste any time getting settled in and catching up with Paul, our sales agent.  He showed us 5 model homes and our heads were spinning at all the possibilities.

Saturday we went food shopping at Basha's and I prepared Swedish Meatballs and a cheese/sausage tray to take to the New Years Eve party at Jan and Tim's house in Mesa.  They are our next door neighbors in MI and invited us over, along with 3 other couples, for a potluck dinner which was just fabulous.  We had a great evening, enjoyed catching up with Jan and Tim, getting to know their friends and playing Sequence until midnight (EST).

Sunday was an R and R day.  I cooked a small pork roast in the crock pot and, while it was cooking, we went for a drive to get our bearings in the Mesa/Gold Canyon area....it is so beautiful here.  Love the Superstition Mountains...don't think I would ever tire of this view.

I joined the 10:00 knitting group Monday morning while George stopped by the softball field.  I really enjoyed meeting these ladies and it seems they are knitting at all levels.  There were 10 people present and Marci Hecktor and I hit it off immediately.  She invited me over to see her casita later in the afternoon .  Also, I helped a beginner knitter, Karen, with her hat project.

After knitting, Jan and Tim came over at 11:30 and we gave them a tour of the development and they love it.  I think Jan is ready to make a move also.  We went to lunch at the Fairways Cafe across the street, then we stopped by Marci's to check out her casita which was very nice.  It's now time for Happy Hour which runs from 3:00 to 5:00 here.  When HH is in the Ballroom, wine and beer is FREE, yes, I said FREE.  When HH is in the outdoor area by the pool, wine and beer is $1.00. Honestly, you can't beat it either way.  Today, HH is in the Ballroom with entertainment.  Marci and husband Gunther were there along with Debra (from knitting) along with husband Don who is on the softball team.  I introduced him to George and he invited George to softball practice on Saturday.  We brought Jan and Tim back to our RV and I fixed pulled pork sandwiches.  What a fun day/evening.

By Thursday, we joined the couples golf group in Superstition Views.  They play every Thursday at Queen's Creek, a really nice course about 20 minutes away.  We were paired with Laura and Roger Gleason and had a ball.  George and I both had a par on the first par 5 and Laura broke out the birdie juice.....our kind of golfers!

FAST FORWARD:  By the end of 2 weeks, we reserved Lot 780 and are in the process of making plans to build a La Morada with an Arizona Room Extension.  Yiippee!
